Why it matters

Sensory rooms offer an invaluable haven for children, providing a dedicated space where they can regulate their emotions, develop coping mechanisms, and explore their senses in a safe and supportive environment. For many children, especially those with autism spectrum disorder, ADHD, sensory processing disorder, or trauma, the world can feel overwhelming and chaotic. Studies show the profound impact: research indicates that sensory rooms can lead to a significant decrease in challenging behaviors by as much as 50% and an increase in engagement and social interaction.  Ultimately, a sensory room isn't just a luxury; it's a fundamental tool for fostering emotional well-being, promoting learning readiness, and empowering children to navigate their world with greater confidence and calm. It’s about creating an equitable space where every child has the chance to thrive, rather than merely survive their daily experiences.

A Greater Purpose

We are building this space specifically designed for people with a variety of needs that will allow them to explore, engage, and rejuvenate in a calming environment.   Through continued relationships with healthcare professionals, this space will become a hub where Occupational Therapists and Physical Therapists can meet families on site. This will be an integral program and space for our childcare families (including the new 30 childcare spaces we're able to offer because of this project and your generosity), as well as our entire community to take advantage of. However, many families in our community face significant barriers to accessing essential occupational and physical therapy, including limited income, time or transportation. Our goal with your help is to reduce these barriers.

Stories of impact

“This space will be a game-changer for our family. Having a place we can go that’s safe, fun, and free? It means everything.”
